Undaunted Courage: Environmental Engineering and the Opening of the Next Frontier

James R. Mihelcic is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, State of Florida 21st Century World Class Scholar, and Director of the Peace Corps Master’s International Program at the University of South Florida.  Dr. Mihelcic is a past president of the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors, a current Board Trustee and Board Certified Environmental Engineering Member of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, and a member of EPA’s Chartered and Environmental Engineering Science Advisory Boards.  He has advised a student who received an AEESP Master’s Thesis Award and has received several research and education awards including an AEESP Doctoral Thesis Award, the AEESP-Wiley Interscience Award for Outstanding Contributions to Environmental Engineering & Science Education, and a Best Paper Award from the Environmental Engineering Division of the American Society for Engineering Education.   Dr. Mihelcic is lead author for 3 textbooks: Fundamentals of Environmental Engineering (John Wiley & Sons, 1999); Field Guide in Environmental Engineering for Development Workers: Water, Sanitation, Indoor Air (ASCE Press, 2009); and, Environmental Engineering: Fundamentals, Sustainability, Design (John Wiley & Sons, 2010).
